Will there be an odor during installation?2017-01-18T03:34:13-06:00

Almost all of the products we use have very little odor, are non-flammable, and are VOC (volatile organic chemical) free. The coatings industry has come a long ways in term of environmentally friendly coatings in recent years and regulations get tighter. That being said, coatings are not completely odor free and we will discuss if there are any circumstances we should be aware of.

What sort of maintenance do the floors require?2017-01-18T03:34:13-06:00

Typically very little maintenance is required. You do not need to re-seal epoxy floors. Generally just vacuuming or mopping occasionally is sufficient for most of our floors. A special wax may be used on extremely glossy floors that need slip resistance. This may require reapplication occasionally, but it is an easy process.

How are you different from other contractors?2017-01-18T03:34:13-06:00

It’s tough to know where to get started in answering that. There are some great contractors out there, but there are definitely some extremely lousy ones. Here’s just a few thoughts about that question.

-We are professionals in ever step of the process, from initial contact to project wrap up. We don’t smoke, do drugs, have tattoos or piercings all over, swear (well it’s limited, haha), try to cheat on taxes, or have criminal records.

-We use efficient processes and technology to keep our quality up and our prices down. We will not skimp on preparation or coatings to make a few extra dollars.

-We won’t try to inflate our quote with unnecessary services or try to get you to bite on a high price. Our prices are as consistent from one job to the next that we can make them. Prices are based on materials and difficulty of the installation.

-We shotblast our concrete surfaces, while others may only grind or acid etch.

-We may be the only contractor that has studied the chemical formal to understand how the coatings work and how they are affected by variables that may be encountered. Some people may call us nerds. 🙂

-In the extremely rare event you have an issue with the coating later on, we desperately want to hear from you so we can analyze what the root cause may be and correct the situation.

-We won’t lie, exaggerate or feed you any lines to get your business. We would much rather not have the work, then have to compromise our character.

What products do you use?2017-01-18T03:34:13-06:00

We use only the highest quality product from established coating manufacturers including Elite Crete and Norkan. These are also some of the highest priced coatings, but it is well worth the cost in terms of quality and durability of the material. Most of the coatings we use are not available to the general public but rather only to trained contractors. Most of the coatings you see in hardware stores are dumbed-down versions of coatings which makes them easier to apply, but also sacrifices much of the quality.

What is the typical installation time?2017-01-18T03:34:13-06:00

Installation time will depend on the type of flooring system that you choose, weather conditions and any special requirements. Typically it can be done within 2-3 days. Longer times may result because of low temperatures or high humidity. If the installation location will be significantly affected by outside weather, such as heavy rain, it may be necessary to postpone the install until conditions are more favorable.

What methods of payment do you accept?2017-01-18T03:34:13-06:00

Credit cards (and debit cards to some extent) are the fastest and safest way to pay for both parties, therefore we accept all major cards- Visa, MasterCard, American Express, etc. We take magnetic swipe, chip card and contactless pay (such as Apple Pay). Paypal transfer is also an option. Payment is due at the time of completion of service. Checks can also be accepted if required, however if I were you, I’d pay with credit and get the points or miles!

Do your floors offer Ultra Violet (UV) light protection?2017-01-18T03:34:13-06:00

YES, we will not install a floor without UV protection. This is important because UV light can yellow the floor over time. Depending on the flooring system, this UV protection may be part of the epoxy, polyurethane or polyaspartic top coat.

Do you use 100% solids epoxy?2017-01-18T03:34:13-06:00

YES, we use 100% solids epoxy for the base coat(s) and some top coat layers. True primers, polyurethanes and polyaspartics are not made in 100% solids, so don’t let someone tell you they are! Those are important products and each have a specific purpose, but are not 100% solids, nor should they be.

I’ve heard about hot tire pickup, will that be an issue?2017-01-18T03:34:13-06:00

NO. Hot tire pickup is when a hot tire is parked on a epoxy coating which causes them to bind together. When the tire moves it then takes some of the coating with it. This is only an issue with very thin coatings where the surface has not properly been prepared through grinding or preferably shot blasting. This is NOT an issue with any of our coatings. We prepare the surface by shot blasting and use the highest quality and thickest coatings on the market. Therefore you will have no issue with this.

How do you prep the floor?2017-01-18T03:34:13-06:00

We will use the best preparation method that exists, which is steel shot blasting. This both removes any contaminates like oil and also gives the surface a rough texture so the epoxy can bind properly. Acid etching will not properly prepare the surface. Mechanical grinding may be okay for thinner coatings, but shot blasting if the best method provide a base for a long lasting coating.
